I have narrowed my pick of tuners down to these. Any one have any opinions on them?

BD Intimidator
Bully Dog Power Pup
HP Tuners
HyperTech
PPE Xcelerator
Predator
Quadzilla Stealth
SuperChips Micro Tune

Lots of opinions. What are you looking for?

I'm sure you know but they all do the same thing. Some are gonna feel differently. Some are gonna make the throttle sensitive. Some will make it stiffer. Some will decrease your mileage. Some will improve it.

I would rule out HP tuners. If you're gonna spend the cash on a good tuning device, go with EFI live. I will here eventually.

Hypertech is great. Great towing power and excellent driveability. Some love it and some hate it.

The Predator is excellent too. Sensitive throttle, great throttle response and good mileage with it.

How much power are you looking to run?

PPE is probably the best hand held tuner out on the market but they are not cheap. Its pretty much the most power you're gonna get out of a programmer.

I've heard Bully Dog are decent programmers but they're "dirty" tunes and all they do is add a ton of fuel and timing. It isnt very refined from what I understand.

Go with the PPE. You'll love it. I used to have it until I made the Switch to EFI Live. Now I wish I would went with EFI from the Start. 1000x better than ANY Programmer.

Mostly looking for towing power and a little boost and smoke when I am unhitched from my trailer. Does EFI allow you to read/reset codes and check fuel balance rates?

EFI lets you do everything and anything. EFI or PPE are the only tiners I would ever put in my trucks.

x2 exactly.

You have Total Control over EVERY Parameter of the Truck with EFI.

You can make a +5hp Tune or you can make a +500hp Tune with EFI. It's Infinitely Adjustable.

Agreed. EFI live is unlimited as to what you can do. Its not just a tuning device...You can do anything with it. The possibilities are endless. We also have sponsors here who do write very good tunes. Amongst the best out there actually.

There are a million different opinions on tuners. But from the ones you list, I would have to say that the Predator is easy to use and gives you the best bang for your buck. If your towing, it has a solid 40hp towing tune or a 65hp tune that you can tow with. And if you wanna roll the coal when you don't have the trailer hooked up, then you can put the 120hp tune on, and that will let you have a good time. This is the one tuner I have used on a couple trucks, and had very good luck and results with it. The other handheld tuner I would consider on your list is the PPE. Another one that you see a lot of guys use, and have some really good results with. Like others have said, it will run more then twice the price of the Predator, but you can do a lot more with the PPE.

Though, if you wanna have everything at your fingertips, then you would want EFI Live. Everything that everyone has brought up is right on, there really isn't much you can't do with it. It is something that I am looking at getting sometime in the future.
