thread sizes

Hi all,

A buddy has shot his drain plug in the oil pan.

Taking the opportunity, we would like to reapir by taping using the permacoil thread repair kit wich allow to restore to 1/2-20 thread.

Instead of the drain plug, we will install a FUMOTO qwikdrain valve.

The threads on this valve are said to be 1/2- 20 UNF.

Question is, what means UNF ? should the restoration to 1/2-20 thread fit, or is there something more I have to care about ?

The UNF is fine thread, 20 threads per inch. They are the same.
