STX 46 riding mower...help please

I was trying to dismantle the seat sensor and parking brake sensor so I wouldn't have to put the parking brake on to get off the lawnmower. I took the switch out by the brake pedal and jumped a purple wire to a white wire. It started up without me being on the seat..."cool", I thought. So I spliced them together and now it wouldn't start...nothing...as if it doesn't have any juice going to the starter at all. I took the splice out and still the same. What did I fry?

There's probably a safety relay in there that maybe is toast. I know the only way I've ever done that is to just jump across each individual switch but that was on a 1987 JD318. Sometimes there is a circuit board that controls that. Did you put the switch back in and rewire it? Maybe it's looking for that to cycle once... just guessing.

I took the splice connector out and it still had nothin. I was told by a couple people that I may have blown a fuse. I guess I'll have to look around a little harder.

Honestly, those safety's are there for a reason. I always leave that kind of stuff. No offense to you, but I don't want to see a post "Lawnmower chopped my toe off!"

The safety stuff is stupid. Do you see that stuff on big tractors? Not to sound arrogant but I think the only reason they put it on is for liability and clueless city slickers. I've been around tractors/mowers my whole life. I put all the bypasses back in and I can start the mower by touching the bolts together on the starter relay. Is it just a bad relay? There are no fuses on my mower.

Ohm out the ignition switch to see if the start contacts are working first.

Ok, I'll have to borrow a ohmmeter...

Kinda funny I get more help on here than on the lawnmower forums. Sad for them.
