Sarasota Sleigh Drag

OK, ground work starting on the Inaugural Sarasota Santa Sleigh Drag on Saturday the 12th of December, rain or shine.

The idea behind this, other than having a good time, will be to collect wrapped toys so we can help with the Marine Christmas Toy Drive and give back to the community. Your participation is requested to support the event and help plan and execute the ideas of enthusiasts like us.

Don't you dare just sit back and do nothing!! We will need help getting the word out, passing out flyers, band, DJ, port-o-johns, lights, bushhoggin just to name a few. Oh yeah, food and drinks and ice and stuff. There will be updates to this daily if not every few hours by me.

There will be over night parking available Friday night if you are traveling a long distance. There will be over night parking for Saturday night as well, NO DRUNK DRIVING!!!! IT WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!!! We are adults, we can have fun and be safe at the same time.

This is a small test for something big we might do in the very near future. If this event goes well and we can get the help and support then bigger and better things WILL happen!! This is open to anybody and everybody who might be interested. So, help, help alot and follow through with your task.

Ok guys....here is what was discussed at the meeting yesterday Tuesday the 17th of Nov.

* NO ANIMALS ALLOWED!!
* There will be NO beer sales
*Children welcome but adults rule after 8pm, put them to bed
* RAIN OR SHINE

*CJ and Futch are workin on sled and dyno...dyno needs certain number of trucks to participate or we pay on the backside for his coming down
*Mike Peters will bring his dumpster for trash and will work on port-o-johns and will also work on fire wood for fire pit use on Friday and Saturday Night use
*Jr will call and get burn permit
*CJ will work on meat
*Mr Darvin Boatwright will do cooking
*Mike P has people who will be doing the collecting of money and toys at the gate
*CJ will post on Facebook
*Mike P heads up security
*Dave will bring monster bug
*Mike P will coordinate games to be played
*Josh and JR will work on trophies for best truck, ugliest truck, furthest driven, best ford,chevy,dodge

The Event will be named "TRUCKIN' FOR TOYS"

*There will be insurance/liability waiver at gate, must sign to come in
*There will be a seperate RULES SHEETto hand each person coming in

*Missy Bell - Nay Burs - Mike P
*Band will be behind the house on a stage

*DJ for the event is going to be Richard Campbell - CJ

* Fast Eddie wiil fabricate a "POLE"
*Jr will talk to Tommy H about stand alone tower lights - maybe 4 or 6
*Jr will cut and prep land, to includetrack layout and maintenance, assisted by Kyle
*The "lake" will be off limits unless cleared with Jr

Raffle and 50/50 will be held. Need items for raffle.


So, the idea behind this was to ;
a) Do our part and help with the charity of the Marines' "Toys for Tots" Drive
b) Bring awareness to our group and have a good adult sporting event
c) Use this as a gauge to see if there is interest in doing it on a larger scale in April/May at a bigger venue


Entry to the event will be a wrapped/unopend toy with the value of at least $10 or the donation of $10 to get in. This will be per vehicle.

NOTHING IS SET IN STONE YET, EVERYTHING IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND INPUT, AND WE WANT EVERYONE TO BE AT THE MEETINGS TO TELL US WHAT YOU MIGHT WANT TO DO OR GET OUT OF THIS EVENT. THIS NEEDS THE PARTICIPATION OF EVERYONE...FROM IDEAS, LABOR, ARTWORK, AND PASSING OUT FLYERS. THIS WILL BE A PUBLIC RELATIONS EVENT WITH EXPOSURE IN THE LOCAL NEWSPAPER AS WELL.

The next meeting will be posted and as of this writing it will be Friday morning the 20th at Full Plate Diner on Palmer Blvd. IF you can't make it and you have ideas...post them!! Let someone know!! We need you and your help, so get on board!!

WE HAVE A SLED!! The sled will be provided by RICH with Brooksville Sled Pulling Association!!!!!!!!!! we are working on the track, and this should be a great thing! hope to see you all there.
