red's 12 valve conversion

my issue with the mechanical fan is not so much the power it pulls (looking at 1000ft/lbs of torque roughly right now) its the clearance. as the motor and core support are sitting right now i have about 1/16" clearance between the back of the radiator and the fan. now the engine will rock back a little bit once the trans goes on but thats still tight.

will have some time to think about it, friends place where i have the truck is moving out of state so i'm going to button up the body and get it out of the shop this weekend. then i'll start looking for a new place to finish the project lol. the bad part about not having my own house yet.

I had to modify and notch my core to get the rad to fan clearance right. you will need about a half inch or more in between them or you will take out the rad. i thought mine was fine till i was showing off and did a boosted launch. fan ate the rad right up. new rad and some modification later all is well.

sorry havent had much time at all and the project has been on the backburner due to other issues, blew up the 350 in my k5 blazer which has been my daily driver while the dually is down so i've been in the process of swapping the 350 out for the 454 that was in my 84 grey k30.

back on topic, the t-case has been converted to the dodge 29 spline input shaft. pretty easy to rebuild a np205 t-case actually. need the machine work done to the trans/t-case adapter to fit the larger input shaft then those can be installed and get the driveshafts cut to length. ordered the trans shifter, throttle cable, and turbo drain tube today. the radiator has 1/2" of clearance with the mechanical fan so i'll give that a shot, if i have issues then i'll check into electric fans.

really kills me that its taking so long just havent had any time for about 2 months

that would be an understatement!

little progress. dually is awaiting some parts and hopefully the last few things. turbo drain tube, trans shifter, intercooler plumbed up, and waiting for a trans-tcase adapter. i had the one from an automatic that was designed for a 23 spline and wouldnt fit the larger 29 spline that the nv4500 uses, couldnt get it machined because the shop was worried about the material thickness going around the seal if they did that. been searching for awhile to try and find one and FINALLY found one!! should be here this weekend which will allow the t-case to be installed and get the measurements for the driveshafts! so close to being done i can taste it

gotten tired of all the discontinued parts and hunting for them, selling the drivetrain swap and going back to a big block.
