Rear door lock actuator replacement

Rear barn door lock actuator no longer works, so I have a new one on order. Question is how to remove the existing? Actuator is bolted to a bracket using the 4 small bolts holding the actuator together. The bracket is rivet to the door. Should I try to remove the bolts holding it to the bracket, or should I just drill out the rivets and bolt it back in place?

make easier work by drilling out the rivets. I don't think removing the inside panel will give you much access other than a small hole to reach your arm in there! while you have the bracket out, if you have any 1/4" nut-zerts left over, use them on the bracket before going back in.

9 times out of 10 the actuator just needs lube. all 4 doors on my 95 needed help. you had to hit the button 4-5 times in ether direction to lock or unlock them especially the rear doors. lubed them up along with removing what used to be a rubber boot that had crystalized around the part that moved in and out fixed them.

Actuator does not move or even respond. Been like this for awhile. Good news is I’m down to little projects like this.
