Question on my Shop

I am wanting to put something on my ceiling of my shop so I can blow some insulation in, the trusses are 4' on center. I know I can put metal up, but was wondering if there might be something cheaper. I think OSB would sag to much between the 4' on center trusses, any other ideas?

I think that would be to much weight, the netting would end up with a mess, sometimes down the road.

X2 on this. Also, use deck screws to fasten the ply to the trusses. Nails tend to eventually pull loose under weight.

Plywood would probably exceed the capacity of the trusses. They aren't rated for much weight on the bottom.

I'd spray foam the underside of the roof and put salvage steel up. Paint it white later.

Or yopu could spray foam the roof, paint everything white and throw up some ceiling fans

Get some legit insulation blown in over steel. Don't try using great-stuff or stuff like that, just gonna be a mess. Good insulation saves money and makes you more comfortable.

Spray foam insulation and Great Stuff are worlds apart. Closed cell spray foam insulation seals all air leaks and actually adds structural integrity to the building.

We had our 16 x 26 garden shed/butcher shop spray foamed and heated it to 70 degrees with a small electric heater when is was -5 F outside. That is with an insulated 9'x7' door and a 3' entrance door.

Unless you use your ceiling trusses for storage, I would just put steel up anyways, less room to heat. Even if you just throw some batting up there and spray foam the roof...

Another method of circulating heat is to run a pipe up near the peak with a thermostatically controlled fan on it. An inline duct booster fan will suffice. A few of these on a bigger building. This will work even above a stel ceiling
