Opinions on my gm8's health(vid).

Pretty much.

Thats a lot of radial play, but there's one point where it looks like you've got a lot of axial play.

Toast!

That poor turbo :nonod: its in alot of pain.

You got some jelly to go with that toast?

Holy crap! Wonder it hasn't grenaded. Might be rebuild-able if the wheels have not touched and the shaft is not scored.

Cause it's floating on the oil wall when the engine is running like all turbo's do.

But with that kind of play in the plain bearings with the engine off, it's only a matter of time before...........graunch!

Instant toast........with peanut butter on it!

The first turbo I rebuilt was on my Corvair :eek:hmy1: also built one for a bud that had a Turbo Buick. Man that thing ran like stink. The best G body setup GM ever did. Other than the diesel ones :rolleyes5:
Seems like that unit would be leaking some oil by the seals. Is it?

Burnt toast! Oil is weeping from the housing and I noticed the smoke trail and 1/2 the power it felt like. Oh, and the turbo whistle gradually got so I could barely hear it. Boost readings were odd and I could hear a bark/scrape sound (wheel hitting the housing?). The truck is parked waiting on an HX40II. Anyone know how to clock the HX40II so I can keep my intercooler?
