OnStar Avail Soon For ANY Vehicle

I don't even use the OnStar that came with the truck. Too much money for what you get in my opinion. They need to make the service more affordable.

Yea, I've never Used it either. I don't really know anyone that does, other than People with Kids that like to Push the Emergency Button.

In theory it is a nice thing to have, but much too costly. If they lowered the price and made it more affordable, I'd think of retaining it. I understand that if you use Verizon as a carrier, you can utilize the OnStar telephone in the truck, and use your existing minutes directly from that phone. Or something like that. If anyone has more info on that, please chime in.

With limited coverage and range of the digital cell phones.... OnStar has a range advantage and we use that delivering parts in the middle of nowhere, AZ. Expensive yes. Places even it doesn't work and disadvantage of only when you are in the vehicle.

We used it quite a bit and justified the cost of phone use only because nothing else worked as well all over the USA but esp. in the limited coverage areas out here.

I use OnStar, and it has come in handy a few times..

We have OnStar in our Suburban and it's nice with the Directions and Connections package.

Didn't know about the phone minutes thing, I'll have to look into that, as we have Verizon.

Ed, when you find out, please update us if you could. I think it could be helpful to our membership.
I think if you have a family shared plan in place it is like adding a phone line for $9.99/month. The OnStar has a separate phone number. The minutes come from the shared plan. I am just not 100% on that.

If I am correct, just be advised that after all taxes/fees and such, the $9.99 comes out to almost a $20 bill. Ask me how I know! ;)
