My truck uses about a quart of oil ever 2,000 miles or so, it has around 125,000 miles on it. I have been running Valvoline 5w30 in it. Any suggestions or ideas on how to minimize the oil usage, anybody had any luck with "high milage" oil?? Does it help?

Look for any Gasket Leaks first.

Oil Pan, Valve Covers, ect... anywhere that Oil can Slowly get out.

Then maybe try one of those Additives that you use in place of 1qt of Oil. Lucas, Restore, ect...

Mine uses 2 quarts between changes. I was using rotella 5W-40 syn. and changed to Mobil 15-40 dino. No difference. That is within specs, I think and I have no ill affects.

I read somewhere about replacing the PCV valve with one from a parts store will cause oil consumption, the GM one is "special". Anybody heard anything about that? I might give that a try, it's only $8.00.
