I use this:

I drive the truck until the oil is hot and then suck it out through the dipstick tube.

I pull out a couple of bottles full and dump it in the drain bucket to rinse out the bottle, then I pull out a 3rd bottle full to send to Backstone Labs.

(Blackstone will send you the sample bottles free of charge.)

Then I do the oil change.

About how long does it take to get results back? What can they tell you about the oil you give them? Other than forgien particales, life of oil I was just curious what else they can find out in the sample.

blackstone-labs.com

With engine warm pull your sample. Get yourself a Fumoto valve it will make life much easier to pull samples.

You will receive your results via email the same day they get your sample.

Beside wear metals and oil life-TBN the results will also show if coolant is present in the oil or if Fuel is in it. A high amount of fuel could point a problem to an injector in the Dmax or injector cups or orings in a powerstroke.

Hope this helps

I use either the fumoto valve, or the small spout on the by-pass oil filter setup! FS2500. Let some drain, and take a small sample from the middle of the drain! Or, if your not draining, the above mentioned suction setup works great! Blackstone will also send you a free kit. Check on their website!

I do also but will never use the amsoil kit and company. As a Long time dealer I have had to many samples come back way off and will never send another to them.

Wrecker really man take my advice on this one. Get an account with blackstone. There service is 2nd to none. Customers also would much rather send to an independent lab rather than Amsoil lab.

Most of the above stated comapnies use the same labs.
