Hi all,

I came across this site while searching for a duramax P0403 code. Appears there is a lot to learn on this site, great site for a new diesel owner. I picked up a '06 Chev LT crew cab 2500HD with the LLY duramax and allison trans. for towing an RV a year ago. The truck had 41K when I bought it. Just 46K-47K now.

Tows my 6000 lb. RV so effortlessly. I should have gotten a diesel years ago for towing. And it's fun to drive when I'm not towing.

I take my truck in tomorrow to get the ecm updated. That's the first step before replacing the egr motor or valve. Hopefully that'll take care of the P0403 code.

Also would like to pick up some pointers on doing the routine maintenance like oil and fuel filter changes myself. Have always done those things on my gas vehicles. At this point, the diesel is a little intimidating for a me, but that should change as I become more familiar with it.

Dave, welcome to our second home. There's lots of info here, with more coming in daily. Make yourself at home, look around and the coffee's brewing.

Your code is EGR related and probably needs to be replaced. I just went through that a few months back. Its a common problem on the 3rd generation trucks, 06's and 07's.

Welcome to DTR Dave! You'll pick the maint stuff in no time. Was just in your neighborhood a couple of weeks ago. Got a Daughter in CoSprings and another with kids up in Woodland Park.

Thanks for making me welcome here.

Crabby Old Fart - I've been in your neck of the woods too. Have a brother just down the road about 20 miles from you in St. Charles. We have camped several times around the Woodland Park area.

Unit453 - I'm hoping I don't need the egr motor/valve replaced. My truck is out of warranty and I believe I'd have to pay for it. From what I've seen, the valve and motor go for around $400.

Dave, welcome to DTR. I hope that re-flash works out for you but I would not count on it. Many have had the re-flash done only to get home and have to make an appointment to have the EGR replaced when the light appears again. Maybe your luck is better. Good luck.....

Welcome to DTR, Dave... if you need advice with anything about your truck, you are most definitely in the right place... the Duramax guys on this site are first-rate (for Duramax guys :))

Nice to have you aboard!
