I know about the issues prone with the PMD's, but is a mechanical 6.5 IP capable of similar power (HP) when turned up, to a chiped one? I got a lead on a 92 3/4T with a good body, but I'm hesitant to jump on it. I'm not sure of the reliability and power potential.

If I get it, its gonna be a plow truck with someone other than me in it.

Thanks in advance,

Mechanical IP is much better IMO. I have converted two 96's to a DB2 4911. The electric pump DS4's might run ok if everthing is perfect, ...grounds, PMD, IP, remote mount, heat sink....on and on. The problem with the convertion is making the 4L80E happy. You need to buy an after market controler or know how to swap in a OBDI TCM.

The DS4 with a good HP chip can deliver 90cc3 of fuel under full power
A DB2 4911 can do the same thing.

THe DS4 is sweet when everything is swinging right. The issue is WHEN

My 95 Dahoooley has a DS4 with a Heath chip calling the shots and it runs like a scalded hound.

The 4911 was a great pump and if set up right can produce some good power.

Best
