Yesterday I was driving my dads JD 5500N and something sounded like it let loose. It sounded like driving a car into a airplane propeller. I lost my hearing for a little while after that. It did it for maybe 4 seconds and hasnt done it since and it runs fine. Anyone have any idea what happened? It has a 4cyl turbo diesel.
 
Mebby a tire kicked something in the fan,or a piece of metal came loose and the fan cought it
Have a looky see if there is any damage there.
