On the road, lost a CV joint on drivers side. Still connected but noisy. Can I remove the half shaft with disassembling the front hub? I was thinking about loosening the 5 or 6 bolts on the diff and pulling the whole thing out till I get home. Advise thanks. 1999 Sub k2500.

Can't drive without the cv shaft. It maintains the preload on the wheel bearing.

If you pull it and remove the shaft from the outer CV joint and reinstall just the outer joint, then it would be ok.

Usuall can't remove the CV shaft without removing sway link, lower shock bolt, and either the remove from the upper ball joint or pulling the wheel bearing from the knuckle.
