Hey guys, I figured I would post here to maybe find some help searching for some parts my son wants for his 68 C10 truck. I though maybe some of you all might have access to local junk yards that would have older rigs.

He is wanting to try and return it to as much as factory as he can, but hopefully not spend for all new parts right away. some of the things we talked about was he wants to add power steering but keep it all factory.

so with that, he would need to find a steering gear and pitman out of a 68-72 truck which would be a direct bolt on gear box. also if one is found, the factory brackets and maybe a pump from a 250 straight 6.

other items we talked about was he is wanting to find an original 17" steering wheel. I believe his truck would have had the three spoke wheel, but could have had the 69 version which is similar to the square body trucks. steering wheel doesn't need to be perfect, but still be functional. I can get the horn button from LMC but their cost on a reproduction wheel is right at $300. we talked and he agrees that if for some reason he decided to go back to a 15" like he has, spending $300 would be a bit much for that.

around here, finding trucks or even cars of that era in a salvage yard is like finding a rare diamond in the rough. and looking on marketplace, folks want your first born child for these parts! There used to be a couple of honey pot junkyards here but the owners have since passed on and they have shut down.

I figured if one of you all could find something local out in different parts of the country and he's willing to pay to ship them it would be easier. Heck, at some point maybe I can get him to sign up here and get to meet and greet here. maybe even start posting a build thread as he slowly fixes it up.
