So i got the chip, and i got my air intake how i want it, so the next step would be exhaust. Any body got any good ideas on a good 4 inch turbo back, at a good price of course.

The main problem you're going to find is that all of the "turbo-back" systems on the Duramax are really down-pipe back systems and go to 4" from there.

What kind of sound are you looking for?.....actually, let me ask this.....

Are you married and, if so, what is your wife's tolerance for noise?

Seems stupid, but if momma ain't happy.....nobody's happy.

You can go from slightly louder than stock.....to a nice little rumble.....to pissing the neighbors off.....to setting off car alarms when you start the truck.

You're in Wisconsin, so I'm assuming you want at least 409 stainless. Single, dual, tip(s)?.....

Anything in particular you're looking for?

Go with a downpipe off the turbo as well. You will notice a lot better spool up

Cumminalong gives good advice about the noise factor. I went with a 4" downpipe back (with muffler) as a compromise with my wife. It still gives a nice rumble just cruising around, and only "speaks out" a bit when I get on it.

There is also no annoying drone while on the highway.

I ran Magnaflow on my 04.5 LLY and ended up switching to MBRP to get rid of the drone. While the Magnaflow did sound very good, it droned at highway speeds and over time, it drove me friggen nuts.

I switched to an MBRP system and the drone dissappeared. The MBRP mufflers are actually around 8" longer than the Magnaflow mufflers which helps tone it down a bit and keep some resonance.

All these exhaust systems are gonna sound pretty much the same. They're all a 4" or 5" tube that allows the motor to breathe more efficiently. Many people pick up a couple miles per gallon after an exhaust install as well.

I would vote for MBRP. They're top notch systems and designed well. They're also not the most expensive out there either but they sure do look nice.

I agree. My MBRP sounds great with the Cat Delete and Muffler in tact.

you wont get much of the setting off car alarms sound unless you have the ecm reflashed to eliminate the turbo hiss (opening the turbo vains). it was designed like that for a number of reasons, but sounds much better when it is gone.

No wife, yet, but i got a girlfriend, had a exhaust on the old truck and she didn't care, but i don't want it so loud so i can't her myself think, ya where i'm from going to want Stainless, i have been looking at the MBRP they looking very nice, would like one with no cat but with a muffler, i no all the big names in exhaust systems, i was just seeing if there was more out there with a smaller price, cus i dont care about name brand.

Just a cat delete pipe?

The problem is that you have a 3.5" exhaust and all the cat delete pipes are for 4" systems.

He's got a 4" exhaust though, he just added the 4" cat delete pipe.

Easiest thing to do is use a section of 3.5" tubing and 2 wide, flat band clamps.

Summit has the tubing and clamps for cheap. All you gotta do is break out the sawzall.

A 4' stick of pipe is less than $20

If I was doing it at the shop I would weld it, instead of the clamps, but if you don't have a welder, they work just fine.

These are the same parts I use at the shop, I just get them at wholesale from Summit's parent company or directly from Walker.

Oh, I just remembered....

I have the whole exhaust off on an '04 Duramax on the shelf.

That didn't have the cat on it, so you could use that front pipe.

I will second that, on the advice part.

I went with a 4" cat-back system with muffler, and like BudTX, there is a nice rumble at idle but nothing overpower at highway speeds.
