Firstly - the IP pumps less than a teaspoonfull of fuel to each injector - it is not like your waterhose when watering the grass - you'll see a small dribble, then nothing till the next time the cylinder is ready to fire, then a 'nuther small dribble, et cetera, ad infinitum
Secondly,the operative phrase being 'next time the cylinder is ready to fire', indicates some form of distributor addressing each cylinder in some form of timing schedule - which you got and which it does, just like an ignition distributor, butcept for fuel.
Therefore, the FSD\PMD will still drive the Fuel Solenoid, the chamber will still fill, the pumping plungers will still follow the camring, the pressure will build, and fuel will still arrive at an injector - just won't be the correct injector for the expectant cylinder........if the IP driven-gear mark is not correctly aligned with the IP drive-gear mark, on the camshaft
If the crank\cam marks are not aligned, the crank prolly won't make one full revolution - if they are aligned, but the IP gears are not aligned, the crank will spin but the engine won't start - also won't start when timed if injector pipes are not bled
If you pull the waterpump off you can see the mark on the IP gear, and by peering, you can see the mark on the camshaft gear when it is at 12 o'clock - line'em up, and yer good to go........after the injector pipes have been primed
