It just started here lately. I don't have ANY clue what it is. It sounds kinda like its coming from the rear end. It only does it when going up a hill, or under heavy acceleration. If you hit the brakes when it's whining, it goes away until the next hill, or heavy acceleration. Any idea what it is?

check all fluids. simple elimination there. you sure its the rear end?? maybe a transfer case?? this is on the dodge, right??

Check the fluid level in the rear diff. also check the wear-&-tear on the ring and pinion gears

not sure if the pump rub issue will make this noise, but you might try checkin for that too. also the diff fluid level ,like bb said
