HX40wii straight pipe sound?

Can anybody tell me if HX40wii sounds good through the exhaust straight piped? The GM8 whistle was great but the freight train drone/exhaust sound lasted a day before the muffler went back on. I have a 4" wrapped metal intake tube and the CKO is ear splitting! I don't want to draw to much attention.
 
Are you using an air box, or an open element under the hood. An enclosed Air box will typically take away a lot of the whine/whistle noise so that its just audible in the cab.
 
The whistle from mine is just crazy stupid lol, i don't have my airbox on yet either right now and I also removed the silencer ring
I have a 3" dp and 4" pipe out side Infront of tire, I have to admit the whistle is a bit over the top ill have to post a video later
 
I'm using a 4" rubber cobra head elbow off the turbo (battery in stock location) to a 4" aluminized wrapped (short radius 90) metal tube and an AEM dry filter. I also plastic welded a homemade cylindrical sealed airbox wrapped in heat reflective tape, made with black plastic from the dump (cheap) . I also have a fender vent where the air filter sits, probably why its so loud. I'll try to get some pics and vid up this week. The exhaust has faint idle whistle with a 4" muffler/tailpipe but wondering if no muffler would be more pronounced? Guess I will get under there, remove muffler , get some crud in my eyes and see how it sounds!
 
That is loud, seems a bit louder than the one I helped put in Warwagon's Suburban. Possibly because of the filter set up and fender vent. And thats with the tone ring in?
 
Pretty loud but I love it! Removed the ring before install so I have no comparison. Stock programming, can't wait to get a tuned ECM! Pushing through ATA intercooler it will spike to 15psi.
 
3 inch ebay special 2006, hanging under the bumper. I'll upload pics soon but I am having difficulty with the file size, feeling a little stupid. I will figure it out, I'm no athlete on a computer.
 
Well, removing the tone ring, and not wanting to draw too much attention do not necessarily go hand in hand. If you need to quiet it down thats a good place to start.
 
Yeah mine is stupid loud lol. But exhaust exits the side. I'm really considering about buying the diamond eye with muffler that exits at the back of truck. I have yet to put my air box on, jut running open filter but I've been thinking up some new ideas for a home made air box to increase filter size

24" x 18"? I'll measure it cause thats a guess don't recall
. The compressor whistle I like loud but, combined with a muffler delete could be over the top too loud, unless the exhaust side of the HX40wii is quieter than the gm8?
