Gonna be putting in my HX35 pretty soon. Does anyone have any tips for me? Im gonna build a 4inch down pipe for best flow. Also what have you guys been using for oil fitting adaptors? And waste gate actuators?

I dont see a 4" downpipe fitting without rubbing on the frame and heater core hoses and such. Perhaps with some body lift kit it would be possible. With ATT we maintiain a 3" elbow and downpipe and I still struggle to get it to fit right.

The heater hoses are definetly a problem, I have a 3-1/2 inch down pipe,on the 92 and they are really close,I would like to go 4 inch on the tahoe, not sure how though, maybe move the turbo front,or bring the heater hoses out of the fire wall at a different location.

Well i got the turbo in finnaly. It took me all weekend to do it. I have some photos here off my phone of the 4 inch down pipe. I forgot the cord to my camara so i will have some better pictures up tomorrow.

I had it just clearing both by about 1/4 on an inch but by the time i got the heat wrap on there and finnished welding the pipe under the cab i touches the frame. That heat wrap works amazing i pulled in off the highway tonight and held my hand on the down pipe for 5 sec before it got to hot to keep on there. I did double wrap it to be safe. I think the Other insulation in put on the heater hose and wires is a little over kill but what ever. I noticed the engine is alot quieter with this turbo and runs a bit smoother. The whistle is not as high pitched as the GM8. More of a deeper sound. All around im pretty happy with it so far, It has no problem building boost. Im excited to see if it gets me better fule economy.

More info, more pics. What did you use for a wastegate ? How did you connect the drainpipe. There are an abundance of unloved Holsets cheap from cummins guys who upgrade. What boost levels are you running? Any lag ? How are egts and IAT's ?
Come on man, cn't put this up without answers....:D

Also how did it fit overall ? T3 flange ?
Did you use/need the upper support from the GM8 ?
Answers answers...This is like someone sayin...Ya so I hung out with Pam Anderson last night and.....

Didnt see it in the sig, but was wondering if you ae running stock compression or not. Like kenny...im very curious to hear the outcome....turbo lag? boost numbers? etc. Im trying to decide the direction of my engine rebuild, and an HX35 is on my list of possible options. So very interested in hearing performance factors of this turbo. Work looks very nice by the way

Well after my first day of driving with the new turbo i must say its my favorit out the the 3 i have had on the truck. LOTS of top end power it don't fall of its face like the GM4 and GM8 did. There is some spool up time caues it is a bigger 12mm housing but it sure takes off haha and throws out a nice cloud of black smoke :) As for the EGT'S they are quite a bit lower. I can stuff my foot right into it from a dead stop and LUCKY if i see 1100 by 130KMHR. I think the 4 inch down pipe helped out a bit there to. Im running stock compression right now so im not sure what i should be limiting my boost at???? Whats a safe level?? I bolted the wastegate shut just for shitts and giggles to see what would happen and it hit 24pounds like nothin so i donno i set the wastegate to let off at around 17psi... sure would like to see what would happen at 25. The flange bolted right up with no mods at all. The biggest pain in the box was fabin up the down pipe must have fit it in there 100 times by the time it was done. Im up loading a video of it right now pics are on the way also......

so would we just make sure there's a video:D

what about drain tube. Mods ? Did it line up ? Boost should be the same for any turbo IMHO 14 PSI max on a stock healthy 6.5. Downpipe is easy for...ther is a real good custom ex shop in town that can make anything...

The oil return line under the turbo had to be modified also. I chopped it off and just put the correct angle on and tacked it in place with it bolted to the turbo. I then unbolted it and welded it out. I can post a picture of it if you want me to.

Im assuming the other two turbos you have used are a gm4 and gm8 correct? Now you mentioned a bit of lag from a stop...did it seem to be about the same amt as the gm8 or better?? Thanks alot for the imput and shareing the pictures, ive really been considering this settup and it is helping to make decisions for me :D
