Hello everyone,
Just wanted to give a big thumbs-up for Peninsular Engines in MI!
My last posts here were about a military pullout 6500 Optimizer engine that I purchased from a vendor, which two were delivered in a poor state of health. (Advertised as low milage, good running & “tested” long-blocks!)
Anyway I’m rebuilding the better of the two engines I received; 30-over bore & pistons required, reworked heads, new pre-cups, etc.
Many of these HMMWV 6.5 pullouts are N/A, so only the #5 main bearing has piston squirter holes. Main bearings 1-4 do not feed oil to the squirters, although they are present/machined into the block.
I called up Peninsular and said here’s my Main Bearing numbers (some of which were over/under), and ask them to convert these to the new style oil-squirter type. Mitch their parts guy dug up a conversion chart, and said no problem. That in it’s self made my life much easier on this rebuild!
Plus as a side bonus, their pricing on many (OEM quality) parts are very competitive! And they have nearly new pullout parts from the 6.5 engines that they convert over to marine spec!
It’s good to know that most of the 6.5 parts/services vendors out there are still creditable, reliable, and really trying to serve their customer’s needs the best they can!:usa:
