With my new engine i want to advance the timing, so i need the scanner to tell me what its at. More the reason is i am scared to remove the ip from the timing cover and dont want to lose my timing, and not have a way to find it again. Where is the best place i can get one of the scanners that monitors your truck real time? Also what is a tech1?

Look for ENGH MOTORS in our vendor section, author\vendor of GMTDScan Tech, a pc-based OBD1 scantool

Thanks guys!!! Im going to buy the software and cable for my laptop before the new engine goes in!!!

I have the GMTDscantech and love it. The only thing it won't do is the abs brakes. I like having the big screen and being able to watch 6 things at once.
The tech1 is made by vertrioincs. It is the scan tool the dealers used untill the tech2 came out. I got my tech1 for $200[deal]. Most go for $400 or more if they have the mass storage cartridge[updateable]. They can be adapted to obd2 with a interface[$200+]

The GMTDScan program is now cheaper than a PMD. Anyone with a 94 or 95 should have it.
