As the good weather wont be with us forever (snow belt), I am trying to do as much maintenance to my rig as possible.

I am also trying to do as much MPG gains as possible as I am now driving a ton compared the last few years.

My question is, does the front diff create rolling resistance when not in 4x4?

If it does, I will change the fluid to Synthetic, if it doesn't I wont bother.

I don't think it causes much resistance, if any since nothing is locked in. I could be wrong though..

Hi Matt, I switched mine out to synthetic when I did it this year, amsoil severe gear, just like the rear end. I also did transfer case synthetic, and transmission, too.... I think the transfer case and tranny would have more impact than front diff, but what the heck, it's only a couple qts
