If it weren't for bad luck i'd have none :mad2:

I'm on the move to SE sask, hense the flatland fireball #2 comment.

Blew the head gasket in my 96 a couple of weeks ago, crap, sh*t happens. So here i am using my 94 w/the Cummins to get stuff moved, cruising down the highway w/the Cummins towing my 96 GMC on a trailer.... POOF... say good bye to the NV4500, not a gear left working in her. It was a funny site with a Ford tow truck towing a chevy with a chevy on a trailer. Any how here i sit in the motel and thought what the heck, might as well make a post and let everyone know where i'm at and whats going on... sorta.

BTW, anyone around Edmonton have a spare NV4500, this is about to get real expensive!:mad2:

Russel

Ouch, i feel your pain. Several years ago i was moving from Houston to the Atlanta area, i was pulling a trailer with my GMC truck going to Houston and about Lake Charles LA the 5 speed goes poof! Well about $1800-2000 later i was back in business, had to get a shop to do it as i had no tools there on the side of I10, of course no shelter and it was december/raining/sleeting.
Good luck, hope your experience is better than mine was.
Don

Damn, Russell, when things go to heck on you they go as a group, don't they?

Good luck, buddy.

Rumor has it that stuff happens in 3's...... i can hardly wait!

Anyone know where Chrisk lives, i may have to drop by sometime or he can send me a PM with the info.

Hate to hear bad news like that. I hope your luck gets better!

Damn Russ!! I know how ya feel man.. Look up, is there a big gray cloud over your head?? Good luck buddy!

Wish you luck!

Hope you get back on the road cheaply!

Cheaply? Not a chance, rebuilt NV4500.... $2500 w/exchange. Ordered already, in that deep a new clutch will go in as well, i may have to keep this truck now, to bad i can't do the work, would save a ton. With any luck i'll be back on the road tomorrow night, i have someone coming to get me now so i'll be getting the Blazer and taking it to Sask in the mean time. Should be about a 2000k trip in about 24 hrs here... lovely. :mad2:

All my trucks are going to be sold soon as i won't need them anymore. Well.... i will keep one, just not sure which one yet.

Some used the old style that mounts outside the bellhousing and uses a fork. Newer ones use one that mounts inside the bellhousing and goes completely around the input shaft of the trans. Don't know the year the change occurred.

In order to replace the internal one you need to pull the trans. I almost look at them like water pumps, if its torn down that far replace it. I did mine a little over a year ago when the clutch went. I'm not pulling that heavy trans and transfer case on the ground in the drive way,so if I'm going to end up paying a shop to do the work best to do everything possible.

Hey Rigger!

I am out on a business trip on Thursday and Friday with some clients so I won't be able to be of much help....sorry! And if you are in the South East, you are quite a few hours away from me.....

Where are you? Estevan?

Partner, I know your pain, bought my truck drove it 4 months and then needed a motor, I hope everything works out for you.

Input shaft stripped out the spline, don't ask me how since i really don't know. I'm not doing any of the work since it happened on the hiway and i have no place to do it. The power train was outta a 93 i think, i didn't ask where the slave cylinder was, will tomorrow morning. A new tranny should be there in the a.m. and if all goes well it should be ready for the road tomorrow night.

Chris i'll be in the Yorkton area, but will be doing the yellowhead all the way from Edmonton. I'm back in the city for the night, will be heading out late in the morning with the Blazer.... hope that sucker makes the trip!
