External(remote) Filter on 4L80E Yes or No?

I'd like to hear more also, as I have heard that it drops pressure too much and is not a good thing.

I run a two quart filter on my 93 and a one quart on my camaro. I dont think they impede flow that much, unless the filter is to small or stopped up.
My 2-1/2ton chevy with an allison has a factory frame mounted one quart filter in the cooler line. My 04 D-max has a spin on filter on the trans, but dont know how fluid is routed to it.

I have read somewhere that it restricts flow too much also, but I would also be interested in hearing from someone that really knows......

I'm not sure what a 4L80E will do, but an external filter is too much restriction for a 700R4 (and I assume also a 4L60E, too).

I'd figure if it were to much restriction it would blow the converter seal, especially on a 700R4/4L60E.
My filter adapters have 1/2" pipe threads, being fed by the factory 3/8" tubing(its what1/4" ID), I dont see that as being a restriction. All I know is my camaro's 700R4 fluid stays clean now.
I think alot of it is myth started by trans shops not wanting to warranty there transmissions looking for an excuse. Anyway to each his own, I'll continue to run mine until I'm proven wrong.
