Excellent!

Now you'll need to get a good load equalizer hitch and adjust the weight on that water trailer so that you get 10% tongue weight and it should tow a whole lot better for you.

BTW - The trailer DOES have good working brakes on it. Right?

Yes, it has surge brakes, and there was a cracked rim on it, so we went to a 1600 gallon tank, which helps, and the other one has surge brakes as well.

Yeah, i know, it is messed up, but the hitch is sitting on my doorstep, so I'm just waiting on the bumper, which will be here monday for sure, and then we will go put them on!

looks like tey make real nice bumpers...only no fronts for an 01-02 2500 HD GMC...Guess I'm still looking...

That is gonna look good when you get those two on there.

Pep, I didn't even see any front bumpers for 03-07 GMCs.

Surge brakes on an un-baffled water tank? --Not a good combination...
Well, with surge brakes you might as well forget using a WD hitch cause the surge brakes won't work with it. :nono:

You'll also need to make sure the loaded trailer doesn't exceed the TorkLift receiver's 15,000 lbs dead weight rating in order to comply with its rating.

Your next alternative will be to upgrade the hydraulic surge brakes on the trailer to Electric over Hydraulics and get a Tekonsha P3 brake controller. Then you can get a WD hitch and be able to haul the trailer's 16,000 lbs capacity.

Thing is, it is not our trailer, and i don't want to do anything to it, the trailer we are using now is 14,600, and i don't for-see much more hauling for the summer, August is almost over, and in september it starts cooling down, when it is in the 70's we don't have to haul, when it is 80 and above we do. We are going to see if we can get one more good well on our property, on the far corner, and if we can't, we are going to get a Semi for this crap, 6000 gal capacity.
