I lost the Transmission in the Suburban (again.... This will be its third in 4 years)
so I went looking for a new one.....
Found one with a Cracked block and excellent Body so I bought it
Now I need to swap my Great 65 in to the new truck....

Any Ideas of how long this should take?
I have called 3 shops and they wanted $1200 $2000 and $3800 plus any needed parts
The price kept going up so I thought I should stop Calling around.

So any Advice on this would be great.... I could do it my self if I rented a Cherry picker for a few days but would have to do it in the building I runs Under ground Parking so I would have to finish over the weekend

Thanks Again for all your Help

I believe the rate book says somewhere around 24 hours. It can be done in less if things really go good. You have that and a half because of the additional pull. I think the rate book is installing a long block. Having done a swap before would be a huge help.

You get faster the more engines you swap.

First one took a month of Sundays. Course I pulled the heads off the replacement engine and that took a weekend to ARP stud it. A helper (rented etc) makes it go faster.

I am feeling that $1500 or So will pay for a new ATT and KOJO
How hard can it be.... 20 years ago I would have not even thought of paying some one ells to work on my truck......

You have a support staff here if you hit a snag. Something you probbly didn't have back then. It's a pretty good feeling to here it fire up after major surgery. Mark all the wires you disconnect. A few pictures can help your memory greatly.
