Jumped into the work truck today, 06 F550, and went and put about 6 tons of asphalt in the bed. Going up the hill, it would only go 15 MPH and wouldn't shift into second. Mechanic says that it is the EGR gone bad, but he didn't look to sure. What do you guys think?
Thanks in advance

my EGR cooler just went bad and it was a dog so he could be right....the advice I was getting from everyone, have the stealer do the HG too

HG = Head Gasket.

If the EGR cooler is bad, it'll be burning coolant. White smoke?

Under warranty? If so, then the dealer routine should be new oil cooler and egr cooler. Dealers sometimes change the HGs at the same time, especially if there's white residue around the degas bottle (a.k.a. "puking").

If no warranty and you're doing the work yourself, I'd yank the egr cooler, and consider doing HGs and an oil cooler. Also, if you do the HGs, I'd consider getting studs.

no white smoke, and there is about 62000 miles on it. the city mechanic will most likely do all of the work on the truck, ill ask him if he can do the HGs too
