Hi All,

I have hit a dead end with my Actron CP9175. It will not read Dad's 04 1500CC. When I plug it in, It tells me It has to be plugged in to read. Works fine on my 00 Sunfire. I have not used it on the truck before. It the scanner to old, or is the electronics in the truck just that new??

So, I am now looking at EFI Live. Concerning Flashscan V2, I do not tune at the moment, maybe later. Can I buy the V2 Scan tool, and is it upgradeable to V2 Scan and tune?? And will it plug directly into the vehicle?? Stand alone?? Chances are that I won't be buying until spring, but I only want to buy it once.

Will I have to by a software license for every vehicle I own? Will it work on non GM? Sis has a 2000/2001 PT Cruiser, and BIL has a 2000 VW Golf.
When I do finally purchase, I will gladly buy from one of our Supporting vendors.

if your not tuning a vehicle than i would not spend the money. just head down to your local auto store and buy a nice universal deal. like what you have, but new. unless your going to do diagnostic work where you need the scan side of the efi live tool it is almost useless. there is so much there you would never even use. not trying to bring you down, just dont want to see you waste your money. that site you gave has some nice ones to do all obd 2 stuff for couple hundred, and there is even cheaper ones out there to read codes.

I have the actron CP9180 and it reads my 06 just fine. I would check your OBD2 connector and make sure it is not damaged and that you are making agood connection. I have looked at EFI live and found that you need seperate license for each vehicle and it is a GM tuner but I don't think it works on all models. I have not seen it offered as a scanner only.

Does the cig lighter work? The OBD II port and the cig lighter are on the same fuse...

you dont need a license to check codes, or scan for that matter. just tuning. but it is an expensive code reader.

According to the software that came with it, it will only work up to 2003. I did email Actron a while back, and they do not have any plans to release update for it.

Yes it is an expensive code reader, but it is upgradeable. And it has almost as many capabilities as a TechII. Diagnostics is why I chose it.
I will check the fuse.

in that case then look into it more. it is a good diag tool if you use it right. although it will only do gm stuff. and not everything. alot though. go to there forum and have a look around there as they have all the info there. plus it is explained in a way you can understand. not how it would read if i typed it:D
