Easy Newbie Question

What does the solinoid on the firewall behind the fuel filter control? When i put in the ecm fuse i get a click click from it, it seems when i only get one click it runs, click click and it wont start, does that control the fuel injector pump like im thinking?? Seems its turning it on and right back off... but if i jump over it it starts but glow plug dash light stays on... trying to get away from alot of jumpers this thing came with in the fuse box and figure out whats not working properly

im thinking so also, if the motor is slightly warm will a diesel fire with out glow plugs? i know nothing about a diesel just happened to buy a cobbled up pos. trying to work out all the bugs that they cobbled around....

That is the glow plug controller, it is supposed the come on when you turn the key on and turn off and on a couple times till the cycle is complete
If you blow the ECM fuse with the key off the controller is pooped me thinks.

ok thank you, i finnally feel like im gaining on this thing, still have the shifting problem, as far as i know, not back together for a drive yet

Hopefully you dont leave it jumpered longer than just to start up. Dont want to burn out and swell the glow plugs.

yea just a couple seconds is all, just gotta figrure out if the signal is being sent to activate GP or if relay is just out

The controller itself is common failure item. I doubt the signal from the PCM is failing to it.
