I bought a gm8 turbo off ebay a while ago and I just installed a heath turbo master. The bracket that hooks to the wastegate is at an angle and not straight up and down. Is this normal? See pic

Yehoshua, That doesn't look like an OEM GM-8, more like a CKO GM-8.
There appears to be a few differences between yours and the OEM units that would make the Wast Gate Actuator arm sit at that angle.
Distance between Oil Feed and Compressor housing is less than OEM...Compressor housing machining is different than the OEM units pictured and the GM-5 I have downstairs.
The TM is on there correctly (horizontal) but if the front cartridge's dimensions are different than OEM then "Huston, we have a problem" or, at least, you have other issues.
Here's a poor shot of my old GM-8 and you can at least see the differences in compressor housing and the distance between it and the oil feed lines. I'll dig out my GM-5 and take a shot or two to show the differences in the center cartridge's construction.
