Yes - the bleeding will stop.....I bled for quite a few years with 6.5s while socking money away to buy what I have now...07.5 DMAX and 06 Escalade. The one thing the 6.5 did have going for it (and it was already mentioned) was that it was factory installed in 1500 series rigs and Yukons.
Not true. With what you spent on those two vehicles, You could go through four 6.5s totally, including entire drivetrains.
And when you hit the 200.000 mile mark you will spend twice as much as what we spend on 6.5 repairs. Or you could sell them and start the whole cycle over again.
It all comes down to what you want to spend, and how much modern toys you want,IE nav. systems and the like.
But if you want functionality only and low ownership and repair costs you can't beat the 6.5 in that department.
If it does what you ask of it without the 700.00 a month payment,, THAT'S PRICELESS.
The day a set of dmax inj. can be had for 250.00 for a set is when I will get one. I'm guessing 20 years or so.
Although if I hit the lottery and money wasn't an issue I woud buy a newer truck, maybe something 3 or 4 years old. BUT I will never give up the 6.5, it has grown on me, and I love it.
For those who can or want a dmax that's cool. As a mechanic I just see the reality of what you get for your money.
