Well here I am jumping into the dark again this time its diesel engines, My name is Brian and I live in Southern IL. I recently aquired a 76 gm holiday rambler in great shape how ever I want to convert it from a 350 to a GM diesel and look forward to getting educated in this new adventure. So if anyone can help in my education I thank you in advance.

Welcome to The Truck Stop Brian! :welcome3:

Based on the oldarmydog name, I'd guess you better go check in with us veterans also!

Welcome to The Truck Stop! Make yourself at home and you will find some of the best minds on the 'net when it comes to the 6.5 diesels are right here.

Welcome aboard.

Pictures of said MH?

GVWR?

Pusher? Puller?

I think that's around a 26 footer isn't it?

Planing to go mechanical diesel? OBDI? OBDII? They're all choices. However, a mechanical DB2 in your 76 would be the easiest of all swaps. Couple that bad boy up to a nice beefy transmission. Probably has a TH400 in it right now. Should be good enough for a MH and a 6.5 if it's healthy. No overdrive though....

A properly 6.5 can probably motorvate it well enough. Don't expect much in the way of performance but better gas mileage than a gasser.

Forget towing anything behind it.

Get lots of guages and monitor the egt's closely. Drive the EGT's, not the speedometer and she'll last a long time.

All the standard 6.5 tricks will work in a MH just as well as a PU truck.

Have fun.

welcome to the truck stop, used to go to southern Illinios when I was at Campbell many years ago.
