while changing the engine in a recently acquired 93 k3500 with nv4500 trans I discovered a cracked bell housing. Has any one had any success at welding or would it be best to replace it? if any one has one they want to sell I would be interested
Thanks DD

I have the same problem on dad's 92. I will sell him one I got with an extra transmission. that will put me one down, but I can allways shuffle them around.

For you, I would go to ebay, they have many there, occasionally one will pop up for reasonable.

My luck with welding, it will crack right next to the weld.

We had our 94 chevy's belhousing completly rip off from the tranny side once.

I took a 4l60E bellhousing in to get welded once and it cracked along the weld so i just stuck JB weld in the crack and it is still running today. Wouldnt do that on a truck that has some torque though.
