Oompa Loompa
bought a new cortex 2950 for my 2006, 1500, 4x4, 5.3l burb. I used 87 octane, even though tow mode and performance says it requires 91 octane. I post these results for informational purposes, because I could not really find anything definative for mileage results.
stock results--in town ecm average mpg is 14.4
87 octane program by cortex - in town ecm average mpg is 13.3
tow mode program by cortex - in town ecm average mpg is 15.4
performance program by cortex - in town ecm average mpg is 14.6
have not tested hwy except stock, 19.6 mpg. all results done on relatively same routes, being very conservative on using throttle. results are an average on 2 tanks per program. low end response was very poor on 87 octane program, decent on stock, better on tow and performance program.
However, it does not work on my 2004 6.0l silverado as advertised and one reason I bought this unit. I will not burn 91 octane, so results were not optimum, and this requirement was not advertised. my opinion, I would try another programmer for everyday use.
anyone else have any results or input?
