turbo removal tips:
If your back is up to it, I suppose you could remove the turbo heat shields and do it from above (?). You'd be laying all on top of the motor to get at the lines.
I don't really enjoy working on my engine though from above. I can remove my passenger wheel and fender inner liner pretty easy (15 minutes ?). The turbo comes off pretty easy as long as you've got some good quality (thin wall) wrenches (another 30 minutes ?). The thin walled wrench is needed for the innner 15mm (or 5/8", don't recall) nuts. A curved, thin wall wrench would be optimum.
Get a new turbo oil return flange gasket and turbo oil return line 1" connector hose beforehand if you have the least evidence of oil leaks in those areas. Cheap$$ at the dealer.
Once you do that, the return lines are pretty much in the open, from inside the fender. Even though my turbo didn't have one, I went back with a metal gasket between it and the manifold flange. Neversieze everything (of course you won't have to do this again :rolleyes5: )
