Hi everyone, on Friday my alternator seized up, which in turn broke the fan belt. Changed the alternator and the belt and right as I was putting the belt on I noticed broken wires. Tried starting truck anyways and no start. The truck was not overheated at all, since the truck shut down right as I heard the squeal of the alternator seizing.

Not sure where these wires go and can't find where they end. The wires were on the left side (drivers side) of the water pump, however, not to sure if that's where they really belong. I have a few pictures of the wires, the plug where they go into, as well as the harness the plug plugs into to, and the length of wire. Any help is appreciated. Also, the truck is a 99 3500 HD.

Can't really tell from the pics.....But, Look at the Fuel Shut Off solenoid.

If you ripped them out of the plug the FSOS won't get a signal to open and let fuel flow.

Look for the round cylinder with the hex bolt on top......For a quick fix, take out the FSOS and take out the plunger and fuel will flow.....PCM might not be happy tho.

Thanks guys! I found the problem....def broken crank shaft position sensor. The wires tore right out of the sensor, however, all the oil and dirt covered the sensor up and I never noticed it.. Changed it and the truck runs fine. What is a TDCO relearn?? Does the truck do it automatically or do I need to do something? I do have a check engine light but I don't know if that was caused from trying to start it with the CSPS broken. Thank you again!

Top Dead Center Offset relearn, it is for your new sensor to let know the ECM the position of crankshaft.

You can achieve it simply by :
  1. disconnect all ground to batteries, then the positive cables.
  2. once all cables disconnected, connect groung cables to positive cables. Cables only, not battery terminals
  3. wait several minutes, time for ECM memory to clear
  4. reconnect battery cables to batteries terminals
  5. your truck should rattle at startup, briefly, whilst initiating the relearn
  6. you're done.

Though, if your truck is happy with the new sensor and runs fine, I will not deal with TDCO, it should be fine, and so not worth it.

The truck rattled quickly when I started it up, maybe half a second, right after I put in the new sensor. I will do the relearn just to be on the safe side. Thank you for your reply!!
