Purchased a 99 ECLB Powerstroke with 400k on the clock. Tranny was just rebuilt for the 5th time 20k miles ago. Has full power and a gooseneck hitch, 4x4 still works good but the body is rough, interior is rough, right outer door handle is missing, and interior light stays on killing the batteries. I dropped it off at a friends shops as i dont feel like wrenching on it, told him to look it over and give me the list of work it needs and i would decide to fix it or scrap it. Surprisingly it only needs brake pads, a rear brake line, one rear main leaf and tires to really make it road worthy. The last owner bought it new and ran the hell out of it. He towed a 24' enclosed trailer with it all of its life and the truck was always maintained faithfully. This guy used to run a fleet of CCLB dually Fords but switched to D-Max's for less maintenance and breakdowns. He only has two Fords left and this is the older one. I gave him $1k for it and swapped a day labor hanging new lights in his shop. I had to sell my spare LBZ D-Max in Sept. so hopefully this truck will be able to replace it for now.

It does look like it's better days are over. But, still, if it has some life left and you have a use for it then a couple grand max to make it reliable is a fair bargain.

I like that year and the 7.3 is an awesome motor. Parts can be kinda pricey especially injectors, but then that is true with most all diesels except our beloved 6.2/5's. Sounds like it has been road hard but if it was maintained well it might surprise you.

Hard to find anything diesel for $1K that runs, nice find & good luck with it

Besides some rust and probably some small dents and dings the body looks straight. IMO that means someone either kept it out of harms way or fixed it when it got in fender benders and either way that means they put some effort into the truck.

Wish we had those deals...
