Okay spent some time on it and here is what I have. Very low hour/mileage 660 block, still has the hone in the cylinders. Very little soot in the exh. entire drivetrain internals look like they are new or just out of the machine shop. Zero sludge or carbon build up.

inj. look new and are bosch PT.#0430211054 or 461-4 with a green band above the hex. The inj. that came out of my truck are PT# 0430211097 or 463-5 with an orange band above hex. Does anyone know which ones are better?

The pintle on the mil-spec inj.looks a hair bigger, other than that they are exactly the same.

Should I just use the whole 6.2 motor instead, or just the heads off the 6.2 and stick with my 6.5 bottom end. It has 230,000, but very minimal if any blowby and runs great.

I don't want extra work either way,If I can get another 100,000 out of my 6.5 bottom end I would rather just do the top end.

I only ask this because most high mileage gas motors I've done the heads on have blown the bottom end out within 6 months. This is something that I would like to get a year or two out of until cash is more abundant. If money wasn't an issue I would do a full rebuild.

I guess what I want to know is, what are the chances of this holding together for any length of time with a top end rebuild and towing about 5/8000 lbs..

The injectors with the red/orange band are turbo injectors. Any others I have from N/A 6.2s have no band at all.
Why do you need to do the top end if it runs good and has little blow-by?
The injector angle could be wrong on the 6.2 heads. The angle was revised with the 599 block engines,I believe. The newer heads have the injectors tipped up for better clearance between the passenger side exhaust manifold. The older style heads will work with a turbo. Rather tight fit though.
I've seen some hone marks in 200,000 mile engines. I'd run the 6.5 bottom end untill it flies apart or throw a set of bearings in it .

I blew a H/G on the 6.5 and assuming the 6.5 heads are cracked was going to use the 6.2 heads since I still have over 45 lbs. oil pressure, it also has low/no blowby, runs good, and I don't have the funds for a total rebuild.

Whats the difference between the turbo and NA inj.. Could I use them in a turbo motor?

I didn't check the angle on the head yet, I will tomorrow.

with that many miles I'd pull the engine and at least look at the bottom end. If it looks good new seals and away we go

The inj. angle of the 660 heads matches my 6.5 heads, so I will only be doing the top end unless I find something unusual when I pull the 6.5 heads.

Is there any disadvantage to using the 6.2 Inj. with the turbo?

Can anyone tell me if I can swap precups from a 6.5 head with the G/Ps horizontal, to a 6.2 head with the G/Ps at about a 40/45* angle.

Or do I need to keep the 6.2 precups with the 6.2 heads. I could check when I pull the 6.5 heads to see if they will hit the precup, but was wondering if anyone else has already encountered this and could tell me before I get to that point so I could have everything I need to do this before I run into a problem that would have the truck down longer while waiting for parts.

Less fuel and lower pop pressure. Most 6.5 N/A injectors are the same as the turbo injectors but with a lower pop pressure.

Most of the pre-cups I've taken out crack when I take them out of the head.
Diesel Depot has new aftermarket pre-cups at a reasonable price. They need to do some special machining to the head to make them fit. New pre-cups from GM are out of this world price. American General is very steep also.
