nvg 3500 is on drivers side, facing up down from shifter
nvg 4500 is on top of tranny facing up at driver side bell housing

severe- under 8600lbs gvwr every 15k miles, over 8600lbs gvwr every 12k miles
normal- under 8600lbs gvwr every 30k miles, over 8600lbs gvwr every 24k miles

capacities
4l60-e drain and fill 4.7l 5 qts after overhaul 10.6l 11 qts
4l80-e " " 4.7l 5 qts " " 10.9l 11.5 qts
nvg4500 manual 3.78l 4 qts

note 1 as of 6/2008 gm house still recommends dex IV for 2004 truck, however there is much information on dex VI being used instead and is backwards compatable to the 1940's on all GM automatic's-----!!!!!!except autotrakfluid is called for!!!!----any add post on this will be appreciated

Note 2 --many people( including myself) have used the pressure test port on the 4l80 for a tranny temp gauge, per tranny rebuild shops this is a low fluid flow passageway and does not reflect actual real time tranny temps.

note 3 line pressure @ drive,park,neutral 35-171 psi-@ reverse 67-324psi-line pressure will pulse every 10 sec-check procedure chart available

I have a 94 manual and will try to send info(within reason) on tranny diagnosis if PM'd with email-large attachments.

tp sensor or app- 1 shift pattern, 2 line pressure, 3 engine(rough)
1engine speed sensor- 1 tcc apply(wrong time or not)
2automatic tranny input speed sensor- 1 tcc apply(not)
3automatic tranny output speed sensor(vss)- erratic shift pattern, 2 tcc apply(at wrong time)
4pressure control solenoid- 1 line press(high/low), 2 shift quality(harsh/soft)
5torque converter clutch PWM solenoid- 1 tcc apply(timing of harsh/soft)
6automatic transmission fluid pressure switch Asm- 1 tcc apply(not), 2 no fourth gear, 3 harsh shift quality, 4 high line pressure high
7automatic tranny fluid temp sensor Asm- 1 tcc on or off
8engine temp sensor- normally on engine coolant crossover- 1 tcc not apply, 2 increase engine rpm
9shift solenoids- 1 gear shift(wrong gear,only 2 gears, no shift)
104 wheel drive low- 1 erratic shift patterns
11cruise engage- 1 delay 4th gear, 2 delay tcc
12tcc brake switch- 1 tcc not apply
