Some mag's got a 12.9 out of the camaro, however I'm a little disappointed this GT didn't get a 12.7 or so. The 5.0 is, despite earlier skepticism, underrated to produce an actual 434 HP. So it has 250 lbs advantage, around 8 more HP (even though like 10 less lbs of TQ), and Live Axle for straight line help, and it only manages to crank out a tenth faster than the SS? Only thing I can seem to blame is the 255s.
Done by the same driver, the 2011 GT managed to pull a 8.6 compared to the 2010 SS's 8.8 in the 1/8. The automatic GT also pulled an 8.6 compared to the (L99) SS's 9.5 in the 1/8. I honestly have no idea how they managed to pull such a terrible number for the L99. I done better than that at a horribly prepped, first time at the track lol.
And GM has a lot of room to make the Camaro superior. The Mustang is about as good as it can get...but the Camaro's "mediocre" (not my words) IRS is nowhere near it's performance max and Ford's fancy 5.0 is still no match for a GM small block.
The Camaro will be the benchmark again in the near future.
