Hey all I got struck by the deadly water pump yesterday!!! I got home from work and shut if off and she started puking.... Its coming out below the water pump(theirs water sprayed all over that area above and below it)...I bought a new lifetime warranty pump for $60, but what is the stock coolant??? Mine is a rusty red color(kid at auto store said I need fleet gaurd and its like $30 a gallon!!)...Any tricks to removing and installing pump??? Mine is bad I know because it has play in it(it moves in and out while engine is running and makes a slight grinding noise too)....Funny thing is the engine NEVER got hot so I got LUCKY!!!!

Ok, attempted to install new water pump today and took old one off(definately toast has bad bearing).... anyways, the new water pump had a different impellar fan setup and it wont fit the motor right...it slides in flush but when you install the bolts it pulls the pump up and its not flush mounted anymore, theirs prolly better than .060 behind it....Its even started chewing up 2 of the threads on one bolt....BUT the new pump can still be spun by hand when this happens....Oreilys ordered a rebuilt stock unit hopping its a design change problem, it will be in Wednesday..Anyone got any ideas of what went wrong?? Whats the correct coolant to put back??

All you need is any of the extended life red coolants.

If it's rated for aluminum radiators, it's fine.

I use Dex-Cool in mine.
