What causes the speedo to increase?

When you have a 6.5l what causes the speedo to reach 10mph? The truck is in park, and you are just reeving the engine to 2k. I had this happen the other day when it was -2 out(Canandians and northern americans know the temp). I drove the truck around then it would not happen anymore.

    Max. Speed in 4wd?

I once accidentally drove to work, on the completely snow free , freeway, in 4wd. 75-80mph. Couldnt figure out why the truck was handling so wierd. When i pulled into the work parking lot, i could smell delco tranny fluid burning. I looked down, and the lever was in 4-hi. Of course i...

Is it the PMD or the ECM/PCM?

There have never been any codes. I wish it had codes then there would be something to go after. The truck shuts off / stalls just like you turn the key off. It will then not fire, like it has no fuel, it turns over plenty fast. You will also not have glowplug/WTS light. If you continue to...

Is it the PMD or the ECM/PCM?

Hi all thanks for all the posts. I know it is not a lift pump. I have tested this on the three 6.5l trucks i have access to and all of them started with the lift pump completely disconnected(They actually ran pretty well too which shocked me). This is definately some kind of electrical...

NOSTALGIA: How bad was the GM 350 diesel?

I have loved diesels and always will. Just because they dont need fire(sparkplug)to create power. They do it with sheer compression. I used to own a 1981 olds diesel, Delta 88, "Body by Fisher". I loved that car. First engine was totally shot. Used to dump drain oil in cause it burned to...

Is it the PMD or the ECM/PCM?

Radioman that last post was the best. I have jiggled, checked beat on every connection i can think of. I REALLY DO READ THESE FORUMNS! I cleaned and inspected about 3 times every connection i have ever read mentioned here. The truck has a brand new PMD. The truck has a BRAND NEW ignition in...

Is it the PMD or the ECM/PCM?

I give up. Took the time to put in the ignition switch. Really thought i fixed it. I started the truck up let it idle for 4 hours and it did not die. Moved it outside of the garage, let it idle for 2 more hours, and it did not stall. Shut the truck off and let it cool down to 1 degree...

Is it the PMD or the ECM/PCM?

I am voting for it too. Put new PMD on and truck died in about 50 feet. Bought IGN switch at dealer today for $260. Looks like quite a project to install. I am going to install it tomorrow. Thanks all.

    KNOWN FIXES

Random stalling PMD Thanks for the reply Veg, It is relocate on the skid plate underneath the truck. It should stay cool there. I was reading about grounding it. DOes the heath kit need a separate gound wire?

    KNOWN FIXES

Simple fix for second battery terminal location Those common side post batteries have a hard time staying tight with just a simple single connection. On the 6.5l you have 1 battery that has 2 connections on a single battery. It is very hard to sinch them down because the bolt is being...

Why didnt GM install the right things so the 6.5 would be more reliable.

Hi All, First i would like to say thank you to all of you that have helped me by replying to me in the past. I really do thank you. I also thank Bill Heath for talking to me. I am currently experiencing problems with my 6.5l. It just decides to die at very inopportune moments. In the...

Bad Idle on my 6.5, Please Help

Sorry for the late reply, been busy. I checked everything over again when it was doing it the other day. It is very annoying because sometimes it will idle perfectly and other times it is horrible(bucking shaking) you can also hear it miss when you are outside and near the exhaust. Again...
