Sorry guys, the old 6.5, while being faithful for many years, has moved on... I bought a 2015 Ford, F350, dually, Lariat, Platinum, 6.7L Super Duty. Just a deal that was too good to pass up. Now I won't be afraid to pull just about anything I want. Here's some pics, and I promise to poke my head...
So I went for an oil change for my truck yesterday. This is not a very good pic, from my cheap old cell phone, but you get the idea. Squirrels had built a nest in my air filter box! I haven't been driving it a lot lately, but at least a couple of times a week!
I have an oil pan heater now going into it's 5th winter. Also have battery blanket/warmer on each battery. Starts like a charm (knock on wood) and it gets plenty cold here. Just sayin'.

I had the truck into a muffler shop earlier today. to see if they could fix it without too much trouble. Because we are leaving for a week tomorrow, etc. They started to go on about removing the inner fender, turbo, etc. :WTF:So, I said no, no, and took the truck home. :nonod:(no cost)...
I didn't do a lot of research into the 4500+ trucks. But in the little I did do, they generally don't seem to be much more expensive than the 3500HDs. The example I showed is probably exceptional, and has low mileage (71,000 mi). Would be nice to have just a standard type bed though. Is that...
I am having a somewhat similar problem. I get a "rattle" at idle. When I push on the exhaust I can see some looseness at what appears to be the band clamp. Is there some sort of secret at getting at the sucker? There's not a lot of room. Perhaps pull the inner fender? I've had the inner fender...
Not me so much! But the wife, and I'm aiming on the high (heavy) side. Below are the trailer wieghts of new Hitchhikers for instance. Not that I'm going to buy new, but generally the older you get the heavier you get it seems. As a guideline;
Model
Hitch Wt.

GVWR

Hi all. We still haven't upgraded to a Duramax yet, but I am starting to get serious. Looks like we will need it by next summer. I did some research about towing capacities and this is what I found;
Following from http://www.campinglife.com/tow-ratings-database/ FYI.
I really think I want to...
If you are that set on a diesel, and I don't know much about conversions, you may want to think Duramax... I do know that would be considerably more $$$. Just sayin'

How about this one http://www.autotrader.ca/a/Chevrolet/Silverado%203500/WAKEFIELD/Quebec/19_6116559_/ It's almost the "too good to be true" kind. I've sent a couple of emails, but got no response...
