I changed the the glow plugs and it started up. I had burned out the AC Delcos (Don't know if they were 60g or something else, says 45 on them). I put in some Bosch Duraterms #80034 and it even seems to be running better. Didn't see leaks. Since it started right up, I'm assuming there are...
I bet you're probably right. Once I replace the glow plugs, I'm sure it'll either not start, or still be hard to start. I'll have to check under the lift pump before and after doing any cranking to see if it's leaking. I've also replaced the o-rings on the square fuel filter before and...
Oddly enough, I haven't really noticed lately that the block heater makes much difference. This must have been an increasing problem until this breaking point. I've had to manually switch on the plugs on every cold startup to get rid of white smoke and drive about 30 feet before it's gone and...
Sounds like making sure the GPs are working is a good first plan. There is some question about the plugs and wiring.
I guess discovering the lift pump having a leak is the next thing to look at / fix, regardless of starting.
I don't think I'd ever bother with starting fluid.
Got warm...
I guess the voltage check doesn't make sense.
With a multimeter, I found:
Infinity resistance on front right two plugs between the prong and ground (engine and battery negative pole).
No voltage between the 2nd to front right glow plug and the battery's positive terminal.
12 volts between the...
Here's what I have. 85 k10 silverado 6.2L diesel
Yesterday morning, ran fine. Did the usual manual glow switch (relay cycles fine), held pedal down to keep running until white smoke gone a half block away.
Afternoon, cranks fine but no start.
injection pump solenoid's pink wire activates...
I just found this posted somewhere.

I did do a glow check on all the Delcos before seeing your post. They all smoked, but as soon as I saw the tip glow red, I disconnected the electricity. All of them seemed the same though I didn't let them glow to the center (to save battery charge). Once I installed them, the truck started...
I'm hoping I don't have to use that tool, but at least I know it's an option. Sounds better than knuckle-busting with vise grips and no space.
All my old AC Delco 60Gs are still measuring between 0.8 and 1.0 ohms. I guess that one Wellman I pulled must actually be bad with no continuity. I...
A special tool for swollen plugs? Is that like a prechamber cleaner that goes in the plug port and scrapes out carbon except that it obliterates the plug? I know there are plug reamers for mercedes to do that (not the plug obliteration, that's an exaggeration).
Anyway, I'm assuming the tab is...
I foolishly on a hasty time schedule changed to wellman thinking they would help a year or two ago. If I'm lucky, I still have the old ones which I think were probably 60G. I had to put those in when I discovered one broken off in the rear left cylinder. I think that's the one that leaks too...
I think my glow plugs are not glowing.
Unless I plug in the block heater all night and day making the engine about 110 degrees, I can't get the engine started. If I get it started and drive, it's hard to start after sitting a while.
The glow plug light comes on.
There's a click.
It...
