    Can the 6.5 pull 12,000lbs?

Mr. DOT Man might want to have a talk with you if he sees you.

    setup for 26,000gcvw on a 6.5

If the balancer does not spin when the engine cranks it is a broken crankshaft. Time for a new engine :mad2:

PMD or injector pump. Pull the codes and crack a injector line while cranking to see if you are getting fuel. Sometimes the pump just dies........

    Here's my plan

If the fan rubs take a look at the engine mounts- they may be bad and letting the engine sag a bit.

    setup for 26,000gcvw on a 6.5

What gear lube do you have in it? The purple GM stuff or Mopar stuff is the only way to go in the NV4500. There are some add-on coolers that replace the PTO plates. They add capacity and are finned to improve cooling. Seems like I remember that most folks overfill by a quart or so through the...

    setup for 26,000gcvw on a 6.5

Maybe a solution would be to slow down, run in OD empty and run in 3rd ( direct) loaded at 55 to 58 mph. When you get on long grades get in the right lane drop a gear and relax. A lot of trucks can't pull a 5% grade in OD or even direct at max GVW. Make some money the way you are set up now and...

    setup for 26,000gcvw on a 6.5

Might be easier and cheaper to take the radiator cap off and drive another truck under it. Engine swaps can get real $$$$$$ real fast. I really doubt you can do it for less than $20K unless someone gives you the engine and transmission. It adds up fast.

    Just for clarification...

That's a problem, LP should see 13.8 vdc. Check the ground, and then start tracing back to see where the voltage drop is happening. Got 13.8 at the hot side of the relay? How about on the load side? May have a bad relay.

    Fooling PCM, engine temp

It is never going to run right that cold. Even if you do "fool" the computer that the engine is at proper temp it's going to be a messed up deal. I'd tell the guy that IF you do it at all there are no guarantees of any type. The thing is going to be in a cold cycle all the time. He needs to put...

truck suddenly wont start. HELP !

The old 7.3 idi is as reliable as an anvil. Check all the return lines and all the flex lines in the system. Old cracked fuel line can let air in. Those are great old trucks, just probably due a little TLC.

    setup for 26,000gcvw on a 6.5

Just curious, whats 26,000 gcvw got to do with it? You still have to have a cdl A because of the combo vehicle.

They are popular with them here too. Just about have to keep a standing order for a new windshield if you drive US 169. :mad5:

no fuel mileage with second suburban with 6.5 or cimmins.

Whats your cruise speed at 2000 rpm on the cummins truck? What is the EGT and boost at that rpm steady speed? What tire are you running
  15. G

no fuel mileage with second suburban with 6.5 or cimmins.

On the Cummins you need to keep the boost and egt down for best fuel economy. Stay below 2000 rpm, 1800 - 2000 rpm is the sweet spot. You are running a lot of injector and a lot of fuel. How much power do you need? Might consider cutting down the fuel some. Got an intercooler? Does it leak? You...

Evans NPG + watertess coolant stuff - if your rig runs hot read this

"apparently the stuff will ‘slush’ at some point" I don't think that's an issue with the newer formula.

    setup for 26,000gcvw on a 6.5

DOT has been chewing 1 ton hot shot rigs up and spitting them out around here, so I would be really careful about my setup. The 2 biggest things they seem to find are no safety chains, and overweight on the rear axle. The tire ratings seem to be a sticking point ( overweight for the tires rated...

Evans NPG + watertess coolant stuff - if your rig runs hot read this

The point of the Evans coolant is that with no water you also get no corrosion. You also do not have to deal with steam pockets, cavitation issues, or leaks from a pressurized cooling system. It is a lifetime coolant- it never wears out. Yes, it is more expensive, and yes, it is a pain to get...
