Nice dream, but no thanks. Besides the carcus is already gone. I had to pay to get it hauled away. No salvage value.

Well, I had it towed home a couple weeks ago. The engine, generator, propane tank, transfer switch and inverter were removed. Also both sides of the lower motorhome storage compartment doors and panels were also removed. I had a couple guys interested in the engine/transmission but no sale yet...

I still own it and finally got the insurance check last Sat for the vehicle itself. Still waiting for the check for all my personal property that was lost. I've had a couple of people that wanted the engine, but nobody can come up with a plan on how to get it. I have contacted a local towing...

I told you I'd get to it eventually. Although we are still dealing with the insurance company and trying to finish my brother's estate. Here is the story as I told it to the insurance company. "We left home on 8/2/21 enroute to Colorado for a wedding on 8/7/21. After getting fuel in Des...

I think I have it all figured out now. I have a local towing company to tow it back to my area for $1500 and I'll be able to get $500 back from AAA. I also have a place to store it for free and a guy to do the work to remove the engine and stuff, then scrap the rest. Fingers crossed!

Well my AAA does cover rvs but not like they used to. I've had it towed several times up to 200 miles for nothing, but now they changed the rules. Max $500 for a tow. I think the storage yard is owned by the insurance company, so storage fees are an issue

The only place that responded to me wanted to know what my budget was. I told them less than $1000. They said that would be only 7 hrs shop time and they thought that wouldn't be enough time. They really must be slow workers. I think I might have found a local place to do the work. I'll know...

Ok, here's the deal. I still have access to the P-400 powered motorhome. It is sitting in the insurance yard in Des Moines, IA. They want it gone. I tried to find someplace in the area to remove the engine/tranny and such. No luck! Either they didn't respond to my request or the wanted too much...

I just wanted to send a quick message to you guys. First, thanks for your well wishes and thoughts. Second, I will be explaining the events as they happened the best I can, later. Not only have we been busy with my brother's estate, but also gathering documentation for the insurance company...

Thanks for all the well wishes. I will post more photos when I get time. It's been a busy week so far. I'll go into more details later. Last night while in Iowa, I was notified that my brother had passed due to his cancer and I have to deal with that first.

    6.5L TD Motorhome repair/repower

My exhaust leak was a little different. There were a couple factors with the exhaust headers. First of all, when they were fabricated, they were made to fit a different style of head. Apparently, the P-400 heads are different. Anyhow the headers wouldn't sit tight against the head mating...

    6.5L TD Motorhome repair/repower

The motorhome had 83,000 miles on it at the time of the engine swap. Now it has 106,000. Problems in the 23,000 miles: Oil leaks, burned wires too close to exhaust, alternator bearings, Brake issues 2X, serp belt tensioner, both front tires, exhaust leaks at the header and probably more that I...

    6.5L TD Motorhome repair/repower

Well, it gets about 12 mpg, depending on terrain/weather. It seems to have more get up and go, but after you get the Rs up. It is very sluggish out of the hole. (bigger turbo)

Here is the link to my engine showing the turbo mount. The oil drains through the mounting block into the crankcase. https://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/threads/6-5l-td-motorhome-repair-repower.42729/page-5

    Starting problem

The factory turbos on these machines are smaller than any I've seen on trucks. Size is a big issue because of space available. I don't think an ATT will fit. Maybe a GM-3 with mods will fit on the side mount. My bigger turbo is mounted at the rear of the engine with custom stainless headers. I...

That money sounds close, but I question having to remove the front of the RV to do work. Although, I talked to a fellow Treker in Reno a few years back (2017) that had warranty work done at the factory and they removed the front of his. I did not. All the work was done from under, through the...
