pretty certain if it has a/c or recirculate option it has a cabin air filter, should be located on the passenger side, near floor in a big black plastic box.

you wont ruin it, unless you are really hard on it for an extended period of time, or get really hot, i don't know anything about edge, but with the hot one you probably could put it in limp mode.
