I know it's the right starter and flexplate, like I said in the first post I took them off his old block and re-installed them on the new block. Both were in great working condition, and never gave a hitch while i was cranking the engine to bleed out the injector lines and get it running...
Hey y'all,
just got a call from a fellow today with a new to me problem. Short story--helicoiled block, oversized starter bolts, he says the starter is bouncing up and down when he cranks the engine.
Long story-- I sold him the 6.5 out of my truck and installed it with all his bolt-ons...
davo727: I'm feeling the same way, I mean yeah, $500 is a chunk of change, but on the other hand, it's nothing if it adds even 20 or 30K to the service life of your engine. And from what I'm hearing, it'll add a lot more than that.
Put it on the list, along with a marine DB2 and an ATT . . ...
The DS4 is a 4 plunger pump, and I thought the big plungers were .330", not that it matters much.
Thanks for the info on the performance DB2's, I've looked a little bit at Kennedy's pumps (300HP marine DB2 for 1200) and need to call Pen' yet as their website is somewhat lacking. I don't know...
Mission profile? I'm a gauge nut and know intimately what the limits are and what it takes to reach them, so after a few years of pulling with my hopped up 6.5 I want to expand the envelope, as it were. I live near Edmonton, Alberta, and I'm in construction, so it could be anything from a load...
Ok, that's exactly what I was looking for I think. I figure I might as well go all the way on this engine, because I have another truck to run around in--this one's for working hard. As the money becomes available, I'll be looking for a high output pump, an ATT, and experimenting. I believe I've...
Fair enough, I'm thinking I can probably save the five hunnerd bucks--but are there ANY applications where a forged crank would be better for this application?
This is something I've been arguing with myself over--I sold the engine I had in my '82 dually for a very good price and got a good used AMG block as a core, so the plan is to take my time and the dollars necessary to build it for maximum possible strength.
No shortcuts allowed, but on the...
Found a post on here about the Engine Shut Off solenoid, which is the 1x3" vertical cylinder mounted on the front of the DS4. It has two wires coming from the top of it, don't know if one is ground and one power, or something else and it grounds through the mount. Oh well, it's a customer's...
Hey all, just wondering if it's possible to bench prime a DS4 pump and injector lines by turning the pump without it hooked up to a PMD/computer/whatever else it is that controls the pump. I realise it won't run, but does it move fuel at all, even at a low pressure?
I'm hoping I can prime an...
The flywheel needs to match the engine, not the transmission, and the 6.5 is an externally balanced engine anyway, so you will need one specific to the 6.5. As for the balancer on the output shaft of the transmission, I've pulled a 4x4 NV4500 from a gasser with the balancer and one from a 6.5...
